Temporary structures
Structures erected to facilitate the construction of a permanent project.Temporary structures are used to facilitate the construction of buildings, bridges, tunnels, and other above- and below ground facilities by providing access, support, and protection for the facility under construction. They are also used to ensure the safety of workers and the public. Temporary Sheds are constructed to store construction material. The may also be used as residence for the watchman.
Temporary structures are either dismantled and removed when the permanent works become self-supporting or completed, or they are incorporated into the finished work. Temporary structures are also used in inspection, repair, and maintenance work.
Temporary building structures are not fragile or have a short life span. They can last for long periods and can be used for alternative purposes like garages, greenhouses and nurseries, barn and agricultural storage, materials storage and workshops. One of the major use of temporary structures is to house the displaced in case of disasters.
Temporary structures can be built as tents, greenhouses, sheds and prefabricated cabins.Even though they’re not made of brick and mortar, these spaces can be built to last.
Temporary buildings are designed for a shorter period of use than permanent buildings. A temporary structure may be used for 28 days or less. More realistically – in a commercial context – a temporary space could be used for 2 to 7 years. A building designed for more than 10 years of use is usually considered a permanent structure.
Permanent buildings are built to last. They are usually made of brick, concrete and steel, with a wooden or fabricated steel frame. Temporary buildings, on the other hand, can be made in inferior timbers, aluminium box framed, for structures designed for two years of use or less, or steel framed and clad, for longer term temporary buildings.
Temporary buildings are designed for fast erection,The time for erection may vary between 1 week and 4 weeks, depending on the size and style of the building. Permanent buildings, on the other hand, may take much longer to complete. Short construction time does not mean that temporary buildings are necessarily frail or weak. It simply reflects their modular and prefabricated nature.
An important feature of a temporary building is the ease with which it can be relocated. Many temporary buildings can be relocated and installed on as many different sites and as many times as you need. This gives you enormous flexibility regarding positioning and use. It also means that temporary buildings can be used on irregular or uneven ground surfaces without the expensive preparation that would be necessary for a permanent building. If not rebuilt, the materials used for construction of these structures can be salvaged and then reused to build another structure.
Temporary shed construction is the first step before construction material is brought on site.Sometimes the sheds may have to be constructed in neighboring sites with necessary permissions.
